Thanks!The defect you are referring to is called edge paint, which has delaminated from the leather. Its done as a detail on high end leather goods to finish the edges on cut leather. Its not uncommon for edge painting to fail in some form or fashion, even on really high end brands. That said, surface preparation, proper heat/cure time, and application can make a difference in adhesion. The quality and type of edge paint being used can also make a BIG difference. While it doesn't hurt to ask about return/exchange/credit, any competent leather worker can color match and apply edge painting where the existing failed. This would be a pretty cheap job fwiw, and you get to keep your wallet which is of sentimental value.
