Crusty, hat looks great both ways - kinda makes me want to get something with a wider brim next time I buy a Panama

And bboysdontcryy, that jacket looks very nice. To me, one of the biggest advantages of soft shoulders, specially if they come with higher armholes, is that you can move your arms and sit without the whole jacket riding up.

i love soft shoulders and higher armholes, just suck when the armhole is so high it digs into your armpits. : (

Thanks for all the thumbs yesterday folks. Today, it's raining a bit and very grey, so I thought it was time for this shirts first wear to brighten things just a little.

Very nice, perfect use heavy cloth SC, BD and knit tie. I'm looking to upgrade my autumn/winter wardrobe with a coat of similar fabric.
Picked up a cream linen coat ystd, and here it is, worn. I think I understand why so many people prefer a soft shoulder. It definitely has its charms, and looks less, for want of a better word 'artificial'.
Up until now I've not been to fond of cream linnen suits, but this one looks spendid.
man I like that patch pocket linen awsmness special mention to Clarinet, HC, M-face, Crusty, Citan and Donuts for great fits, and to SB for bringing Xmas to July and thx for likes waaay back, Stitches for your comment especially cashmere POW SC again, OCBD snap boysdontcry on the wide space repp tie white linen square flannels and black

With a softly padded/unpadded jacket? That would strike me as odd for RTW, it would mean a very tiny armhole, almost Anderson and Sheppard size

Thanks guys.

I've had a couple coats where I faced the problem of the armholes cutting into my armpits. IMHO, I think there might be two possible reasons: 1) Armhole is too high and 2) the armhole wasn't cut to account for the way one's arms hang forward. This was the problem I faced, armhole was poorly shaped (plus high), and thus the armhole was cutting into my armpits. I had the tailor recut the armholes outward (that is, towards the front) and I had a better range of motion.

Think the higher the armhole, the less latitude for imprecision.

Very hard to find RTW coats with high armholes I think, since they probably need to make garments that will fit multiple body types.

Today - you're gonna get sick of my seersucker, but I'm experimenting... swapped the buttons for new light brown corozo ones that I really like, and widened the wrap again. It's gonna stay this way. For some reason the pics make buttons look off-center, but they have actually been placed over the original stitch marks. They look fine IRL.
Please excuse the rumpled cotton trousers, been sitting in them for six hours.
The hank is a cotton madras I got from Put This On, really like it.

I really like this jacket. I liked the white buttons the most. The horn ones were my 2nd favorite. I don't like these new buttons very much. They seem out of place to me. I think mother of pearl would be the best option.

I would not recommend wearing a blue shirt with this jacket. From a distance, the blue/white seersucker looks mostly blue. The shirt blends with that creating a huge block of blue. Usually the blues don't quite match up which is the case here.

I know you've been searching for good pant combos to wear with this jacket. I'd recommend navy (the horror). The khaki pants you wore worked nicely, but I would recommend darker shoes with that combo. You mentioned wearing a green pair of pants a while back. I'm still waiting to see that combo.

It's definitely different but I kind of like it.

I don't think I can get onboard with the navy pants option, and not sure what other shirt to wear besides hues of blue that AAS has in mind. But I think this is fine. The cream pants are a win.
