Matador all you have to do is put in the blank CD, drag and drop files from your hard drive to the CD drive on the desktop, then hold down the mouse button on the CD and the trash icon will change to a write CD option, just drag the CD onto the trash and it will begin burning. I believe hitting the eject key will also prompt a window asking if you want to burn the CD. It's much easier than you expected it to be.

The problem is unlearning bad habits from the kludge the typical new Mac person previously used.

As Brian mentioned, burning a CD from a Mac is incredibly easy, and can be done iTunes, from iPhoto, from iMovie, or directly from the Finder. However, for everything except music CDs, I prefer Roxio Toast.

Oh, and the last time any of my Macs crashed? A few weeks before I installed the "Jaguar" variant of OSX, which was perhaps three or four years ago.

Force-quit is a horrible command, and its needs to be utilize more than people admit. Jon.

My Mac has crashed once, and it was my fault (I deleted system fonts). Force Quit is always, 100% required because of less-than-perfect programming from the software company (i.e. Mozilla), and never the fault of Apple or OS X... at least I'd say 99% of the time. This is much better than I could say about Windows (which I use, as well, as my filesharing tank).

Welcome back, Joe G. The OS 10.4 is coming out very soon. I'm stoked.

it urns out it was really easy:

insert blank cd, choose the songs or playlist, then double click on "burn".

what messed me up was that i was trying to figure out how to do it and i hadn't inserted a blank disc yet. i was expecting it to prompt me to insert the disc at some point. d'oh.

Yeah, like thinking for yourself and being able to customize your computer to your needs. Damn nasty habits.
