Have clothing manufacturers learned people don't like big logos?

Looking at Hollister and Abercrombie's stuff it seems that they've done a 180 and many of their products now either have no logos or a small one

Unfortunately Ralph lauren is still making large pony polos. I think its really popular with middle aged Asian people, especially from China and Korea. Those are the only people I see wearing it here

Lacoste however doesn't have many new large crocodile stuff this year. and they have a few hard to see crocodiles in this fall's line up.

Due to their huge sinking sales they decided to remove the logo. Also remove the dark atmosphere with loud music in their stores. And last to sell black color clothing.

That's not even the largest polo logo one out there. I don't know where they get them, but I see Chinese tourists wearing these disgusting polos where the logo takes up half of the shirt. As long as there are ghetto people and newly rich Chinese, there will be clothing companies that will use loud branding to cater to them.

I wonder if it is their way to show off their wealth
"hey look at me, I can afford a Ralph Lauren".
although I usually don't see Chinese buying Lacoste..
mostly RL and occasionally AF

That's the thing that many people buy into that and it's not so much they want to show off how nice the shirt looks, but how much they paid for it.

Another thing that bothers me in NYC is how many grown men wear American Eagle shirts, proudly advertising the big logo.

AE can be okay, it can be reasonably cheap, as long as its something with no logos or just a small eagle.
I only own one AE, a grey plain polo shirt with an orange eagle that I got from my girlfriend.

What are AnF and Hollister doing here? These brands aren't going to exist as we know them or at all past the next decade. They are in the last phase of 'trendy retailers': Late catchup adaptations sold at steep discounts. As for the RL polo...well they are inspired by the sport of Polo in which Polos do have large labels. Think of these as sports jerseys. Not advocating these as style statements. Just what it is. On the contrary people do like Big Logos and do sell...that is why they make them. Mr Lipschitz & Co. aren't fools so they cater to those who want big logos and those who don't.

because the topic is about the demand for big logos, not about being brand nazis. with out the logos, no one would be able to tell where that abercrombie sweater above came from.
not sure how well its selling for RL, but most other industry reports indicate that people are losing interest in big logos and are wanting fast fashion (for better or worse..probably worse)... that is unless you are a middle aged Asian guy who feels the need to show off they can afford a polo shirt.
