Hi All,

I've got a lovely pair of C&J Coniston boots, in Scotch Grain Calf. I wore them out with a pair of chinos. I had quite a fun, but fairly heavy evening in a lively bar...

The next morning I almost cried at the site of my beautiful C&J, multiple splashes of drinks, sticky, covered and stained in a few places.
Also...attacked by a stiletto and now with a small gouge.

I need harder wearing boots, that I care less about!!!

They need to go with
- flannels
- chinos
- jeans

I was thinking....
RM Williams?
Cordovan boots?
Suede?

I'm all ears for some ideas please

Thanks

RM Williams - with a oiled leather fit the bill, but are pretty expensive for "lack of care" boots

A small gouge is a big deal. Sorry to hear that. Scotch grain is usually quite resistant, so you must have been quite properly stomped by a lady in the club.

In terms of the other damage, you should probably be able to clean it readily.

If you show pics, I can offer some suggestions of what you might be able to do.

I've already:
- wiped them down with a damp
- given them a dose of Saphir Renovateur (allowed to sink in overnight)
- a little wipe down
- some Saphir colour matched creme, allowed to sink in again.
- then finished with Saphir wax

Yes, you can still see some blemishes, but, look fine.

But...ultimately, I like the Conistons too much to wreck them in nightclubs.

So looking for alternative shoes!

I have a pair of Conistons that I also love too much ruin at something like a nightclub. I did buy a pair of Vibergs recently to wear about, playing with the dog, light outdoor activities, and they're great so far. I don't mind them getting roughed up a bit as it fits with the style imo.

I don't think this will work in @rossyl's case. Your Vibergs are circa 100-200 euro more expensive than C&J Conistons (at least according their EU side).

I would suggest you something similar to Coniston, but cheaper, e.g. Berwick:

561-T01 HORWEEN ANILINE CXL TESTA
561-T02 HORWEEN ANILINE CXL BORDEAUX
321-T03 COUNTRY CALF 169
321-K2 COUNTRY CALF NIGER

Thanks, and thank you for looking into the options.

Those all look great, do Berwick's go on sale much?

Maybe something from AE in CXL? Catch a sale, and you'll be at about half the cost of those Conistons.
