Would you kindly share the details of these lovely pants?
Railcar Spikes x060

My pair is about 15 months old. Should have roughly 150 wears on it now. They don't develop all that much contrast via fading

More of the Traveler Penny Storm Suede (and one of the whole fam). Apologies for the monotony - it’s my only GS pair. That will change shortly, I assure you.

Note, this is in the town of Bol, on the island of Brač, in the Adriatic just off the coast from Split.

Just a wonderful pair of shoes. It’s over 90 here most days now and these guys still feel like comfy slippers. I love them. Plus, everything on the island is made from this local white stone. These puppies look amazing against it.

Excellent. It looks like the nap is slowly starting to become more apparent as you wear these. I came across a pair of bourbon Travelers on Reddit that someone posted after 9 months of solid wear, and you see how much they've evolved:

And here are some lodens after 6 months. Again, very slipper-y (or is that slipper-like?):

I look forward to posting my own once they've been taken out and about for a good while!

I kind of like the subtlety of the loden color. What is your opinion of it and how is it’s versatility?

Few more pics now with the thin round Guarded Goods laces. They’re still a bit long but about 3” shorter than the Grant Stone ones. I’ll take what I can get.

Last pic also shows the Guarded Goods thinner flat laces in comparison. Both look nice. I probably don’t like flat laces on boots as much as I used to.

So I've had a pair of Diesels for the last six months, and despite all attempts to break them in, the heel counter causes agony every time I wear them. I believe it's the sheer stiffness of the leather; it presses straight into the back of my heel while walking, and despite massaging that area over and over again, I end up with blisters every single time. Especially annoying because the length and width feel fine to me (no snugness), but I contacted GS customer service to get an opinion.

They very patiently went back and forth with me, and ultimately put me at a half-size larger than what I currently am (10D -> 10.5D).

Part of this came down to the creasing on the vamp appearing to be too far forward, as seen in this video I took.

Before I sell my pair, I'm curious where the creasing should in fact be?

The tape indicates where my pinky and big toes end.

Gutted to have to sell these, but the heel counter is just killing me. 😭

What does massaging the leather entail? What sort of socks do you wear? I bend the counters by hand a bit. Like sometimes physically flexing it until it might even touch the insole. Grant Stone might not recommend such extremes, of course. Little bit of that before or after the first wear, and I am generally set.

Basically using my thumb to press in the heel counter leather in a desperate attempt to soften it up. Pressing in and around where the stitching is in on the outside. I've done this a bunch, basically every time I try to wear them, and it still destroys the back of my heel.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
