I went down to the Union Sq. Green Market in NYC and stopped in Filenes. They had a special sale rack which appeared to be decimated save for a few items....luckily this and other boards have taught me well...I picked up a Giovanni Vasta burgundy striped dress shirt for $20 from $255...a Les Copains dress shirt for $20....a Mario's house-brand (made by Grand Sasso) cashmere sweater in mint green marked $455 for $20...a Gran Sasso merino cashmere blend sweater from $250 for $20.....a paper denim and cloth custom artist print t-shirt for $7 from $50...basically a grand wort of stuff at retail for $90....I was pretty happy, wearing the Vasta shirt now.

They also have (had?) a few nice jackets for $50. Belvest, Corneliani and Chu. The best was an unlined (soft wool, but don't think cashmere) Belvest in a nice conservative plaid - pretty sure it was a 44. They seemed to be more in the 44-46 range. There was a lone 40 D. Chu, sort of a light seafoam green w/ a rust overplaid & hacking pockts....
