Good sources for dressing gowns

The ones by New & Lingwood are both outrageous and outrageously expensive. I'm just looking for a discreet velvet and/or cashmere number. Any ideas gratefully received.

If you have a shirtmaker, they can make one for you.

If you're looking for RTW, any of the traditional British shirtmakers will have them, including Budd, Turnbull & Asser, and Emma Willis. Derek Rose and Zimmerli have some nice options, and larger "brand" shops such as Brooks Brothers and Ralph Lauren will be more affordable. Cheaper ones will always be cotton. I don't know if you can get away with a cashmere or velvet one without paying in the low four figures.

The Merchant Fox, which is the retail arm of Fox Flannel, has some nice Fox Flannel gowns made by Budd. And if you're looking for a gown with a quilted shawl collar, you can try Daniel Hanson. The more work that goes into the gown, the more labor and the more cost. So things such as quilted interiors or collars will also be pricey.

Oh, and my shirtmaker, Ascot Chang has some RTW.
