Need some sizing advice. Most of the shoes I have are Meccariello (and a few are TLB). Should I just order the same GG size as my Meccariello size or are GG half a size up or down?

I recently went to the G&G showroom in New York City to get sized for loafers. I found I was the same size as the shoes I have from Edward Green (9.5 UK), but the G&G standard width was noticeably narrower, so fit me better. This is for the standard RTW width for both shoes, which is E.

I’m a 9 UK in Saint Crispin’s and a 43 in Vass fwiw, though Saint Crispin’s feel wide in their standard width as well (which is F) and I need go down to E (their narrow) for loafers.

I am an 11 E UK in AM (lasts Soft Square and Chisel 2) and G&G (Deco). I have a narrow foot with a low instep.

If G&G doesn’t have a RTW model in your size and you still order it do you just pay the RTW price and they make it as an MTO? Would the production time be shorter than a regular MTO? Noticed they width adjustments for RTW are only 6-8 weeks of production time which is why I‘m curious.

I feel trying to figure out their production process is a pretty fruitless exercise and I'd just take them at their word.

I imagine that their regular production is serialised to maximise use of lasts and leather so it would be put in their pipeline.

sir,

I would suggest the 8E or 8.5E but with 1)long stiffener inside to support the arch and 2) additional reverse heel counter in suede which would minimise the slippage. Should the joint or pinky seem to experience some pressure, that could be eased with 3) putting fittings on the lasts. Whilst we cannot reduce, we could add. Hence, even going MTO can get pretty close in terms of fit to bespoke with abovementioned tweaks.

In any case, Dean would be able to assess your size when he is in NY on the 7th and 8th of November. I hope I can be there as well. I need to renew my NYS driver's licence (depending on the availability of redemption ticket from Tokyo to JFK!).

Sincerely,

Masaichi Hasegawa
Can you elaborate a little bit more on what exactly 'reverse heel counter' is? Has anyone here done this that can show pics to see what it looks like in practice?

I feel that means putting a layer of suede at the heel lining (or putting lining leather flesh side out)

Hi guys, looking for some sizing advice, I am Uk 7E for last 348, 337,373 and also uk7E for john lobb 7000, all of these are also not too tight.
i am interested in irganise a MTO or RTW inGG, I was told to order 7.5uk but not sure if that’s right or not. And when order different last (possibly deco square, MH71) any difference in sizing ?
I am most interested in Mayfair :)
Thanks

Thinking about some loafers this morning. I already have a Monaco in Vintage Oak and will probably get one in Vintage Cedar. But what is the next choice? I'm kind of torn between Oak Hatch Grain and Vintage Rioja. Thoughts?
