What style/color of pants to wear with a midnight blue tuxedo jacket? Are cummerbunds in style? Black bow tie or long necktie OK? Thanks

Ideally, formal trousers made from the same cloth as the jacket. If the jacket is an orphan (not made as part of a "suit") you might have a difficult time getting a close enough match. If that's the case, you might as well abandon the attempt and use standard black formal trousers (tuxedo trousers, in other words). These should be high-waisted, use suspenders, no cuffs, and have the outer seam covered with black satin or black grosgrain (it would be nice to match the type of fabric to that of the dinner jacket). Cummerbunds are always in style as you always need a waist covering (the alternative is a waistcoat). I'd recommend a black one and the same fabric as the seam covering on the trousers. Black bow tie, same fabric as the cummerbund. What style/color of pants to wear with a midnight blue tuxedo jacket? Are cummerbunds in style? Black bow tie or long necktie OK? Thanks
