Interesting- I found the chunky crew dimensions to be super weird. The chest fit a size smaller than tagged, but the sleeves were really long. And normally I'm cool with sleeves that stack a little, but the weight of the fabric caused the cuffs to slide down my hands. The dimensions of the cashmere crews made way more sense.

Anybody try the pencil case? How much can it handle?
Do you think it could handle 3 pens, 2 sharpies and 2 pencils?

Product shot would suggest it could easily hold your suggested 7 writing utensils. If you do get it, do a review for us pls!

I'd say someone should be a guinea pig, but for the price you can do way better if you're patient enough to stalk stuff on Yoox or wait for season-end sales.

The problem I had with the first one was the baconing effect along the hem at the bottom of the jacket, which probably could've been addressed with a more structured hem. Not sure whether that would still be an issue with this version.

Also, I'm not feeling the minuscule chest pocket or the incredibly cropped length.

what are the suggested brands for that price on Yoox?

Assuming we're talking about a casual blazer constructed on something similar to merino wool or the likes.

At the price Everlane is asking, isn't is very reasonable considering the cost to produce the garment? I also presume discounts / markdowns are nonexistent.

Barena Venezia and Harris Wharf London, for starters. There are probably a bunch more. Selection ebbs and flows and prices generally start pretty high, but if you're patient and wait for price drops and coupon codes, you can generally get a pretty good deal. As with all things Yoox, you'll see a bunch of odds and ends, extreme sizes and bad colorways, but you can find decent stuff like this Barena jacket in 100% wool: http://www.yoox.com/us/41408267QL/item?dept=men#sts=sr_men80&cod10=41408267QL&sizeId=4

I don't doubt that Everlane is doing everything with the lowest overhead possible or that you could pay a buttload more for something comparable from a department store brand; it's just not a niche that their business model does a particularly good job filling.

Thanks for letting me know. I'll sit tight and see how things go with the Yoox offerings.

The jacket you linked looks even more cropped, not that I mind, since I'm shooting for something with a casual vibe. I thought the Everlane product made sense due to it's design and choice of fabric. It's definitely not business wear, but something you can rock on the weekends with jeans.

Hey guys, I have been away from the forum for a while, but I hung out with LAGuy the other day so hopped on to see what's up.

It seems that the general impression is that we have been pretty hit-and-miss with our pattern-making. I think that's a very fair criticism and something we are working very hard on to fix right now. If anyone cares about my honest opinion, here's my personal review of our product mix:

Knits, sweaters

Probably our strongest apparel category for men, we have a good presence in the LA garment district and a knit specialist on staff in the company so I have no problem recommending our jersey and knit pieces all around.

I personally buy every style that we make.

Oxford Shirts

I like our old fit better. You can buy the deadstock here:
https://www.everlane.com/collections/mens-shirt-shop/products/mens-oxford-lightblue

It's very styleforum-friendly: high armholes, slim sleeves, medium sized collar

Bags

If you like the styling on out weekenders and backpacks, it's probably the best bang-for-buck game in town

Outerwear, Blazer, Jackets etc

The anorak is a great piece to layer on top of whatever you happen to be wearing. It's slightly oversized so if you buy your normal size you'll be able to fit a blazer under it.

The bomber has fit problems, I also think the merino blazer is about 1-2 inches too cropped.

Swim Short

This product actually offers a lot of value. The fabric is very expensive and the workmanship is really nice. Problem is... no one cares. It's a fail of product marketing because the price doesn't make any sense in our lineup.

We are about to put a lot of resources into men's and I'll try to keep you guys updated on the progress. Thanks for everyone's comments. If you are ever not satisfied with a product, we have a 90-day return policy with basically no rules. Just don't go for a swim and decide to return the swim shorts.

Swim suit looks nice. Any chance of it in something like a light blue?

Dark colors like that just highlight how pale us Nordic white folk are !
