I've been eyeing an Etro shirt online to wear casually, unbuttoned with jeans or similar. I'm small/medium in general, so the reported length (28/30"), chest size (42" armpit to armpit) and sleeves (32/33) seem to be a good fit - the shirt could comfortably go untucked and seems to be a small from those measurements.
It's marked as a medium though on eBay and apparently that's what the tag says too. But the neck size is listed as 16.5. I messaged the seller about it, who said "Neck is about 16.5. Shirt is marked medium and corresponds to size 41/16.5".
Now, I'm used to medium shirts having necks of about 16" and normally would go for something like 15.5" if I'm not intending to ever wear the shirt with a tie (I've got a 15.75" neck). So I still doubt the 16.5 figure - medium is not 16.5 generally, 16.5 is actually a size 42 and the shirt generally is smallish going by the other measurements.
Anyone know the neck size of an Etro medium? If I bought the shirt, where my neck size is around 15.75-16" and it had a 16.5" neck would it look silly unbuttoned at the neck or would the extra .5" not be noticeable?
