NWT, retail $295. Size Medium. This is a great deal.
The Epaulet Los Angeles Field jacket is the best-fitting and most versatile military piece that you will ever own. It’s a phenomenal style that fills a crucial space in every man’s wardrobe. Worn casually with distressed jeans and trainers or dressed up with flannel trousers and boots, it lends a rakish tone to a huge range of looks.
Our original design was inspired by American and Canadian military field coat details. Slanted patch pockets at the chest cut a fresh line while large bellowed patch pockets at the hips provide ample storage and a comfortable place to rest your hands. Thick nickel-toned zippers adorn the front and the collar. Italian hornbone resin buttons are used at all closures, and a functional storm placket has hidden snaps to cover the front zip.
What truly distinguishes our Field Jacket, however, is its fit. Military jackets are a dime a dozen, but the shape is often just wrong. The EPLA Field jacket is precisely cut to march in lock-step with the shirting and jacket fit you've come to expect from Epaulet. The shape is razor sharp and very flattering. This ideal extends to the collar zipper. We love the underside zippers of M65 coats, but we’re not crazy about the flimsy nylon hoods that they hold -- nor the lumpy bulging that those hoods cause. We kept the zipper but deleted the hood. The result is a crisp collar that looks absolutely pimp when turned up. This meticulous obsessive attention to detail was applied throughout the jacket’s fit pattern.
This particular model is crafted in 100% cotton Japanese moleskin. It's a highly durable and wind-resistant fabric originally developed for hunting and military garments. Presented here in a crisp medium grey color, it has been sheared on one side for a soft, plush hand. It’s a perfect insulator that will keep you feeling warm and looking smart through many seasons of wear. A light enzyme has removed shrinkage and softened the fabric for a distressed, broken-in feel. The Field Jacket is fully machine washable, and we advise cold wash/hang dry for overall care.
