Hi folks, this isn't specific to FW 2020, but just curious if there's prevailing sentiment out there for the best iteration of EG's field parka (or similar heavy coat). Seems like there are a bunch - I was just looking at a FW2011 version for instance that looks cool, but wasn't sure if there are clear stand outs or trends. Cheers!

Honestly, it's fairly subjective. I have FW18 (or 19, can't recall) coastline parka and it's perfect for the heavy snow/cold we get here in Canada.

FW11 is a great version of the field parka, but fits much slimmer than more recent seasons. Also, I find the combination of snap and regular buttons on the pockets to be annoying. I used to have one but had to sell it because of the fit.

If you can get measurements for that fw11 parka, and the price is good for you, I would go for it.

In my opinion the best field parkas are from FW08 FW11 FW12 FW14 FW18. This new one from FW20 seems nice too.
And to name other great pieces in that mood :
Birdshooter jacket from FW07 and Storm Parka from FW10

Anybody have experience with the BDU jacket lately? Did you go TTS or size down? TBB recommends to size down but I'm thinking of going TTS.

That's the one I'm looking at! Where'd you pick it up from? Norse and Haven both have it on sale but I'm gonna see if it drops a bit more
Norse. Haven was sold out in the size I wanted and I believe it ended up being cheaper than Haven all in.

You're in Canada? That's exactly what I was wondering; if it were to be cheaper after duties from Norse. Good to know thanks

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
