After a long hiatus, I felt inclined to reignite the seasonal threads that the EG community fell away from and bring back a place where we can all talk about and ruminate on the pros and cons of the season. The reasoning behind the "Show Us How You Roll in Engineered Garments" thread was for the purposes of expressing your visual of the brand and how you interpreted it.
Over the past couple of years I have observed and I'm sure you have too, many long time contributors have put on the vanishing creme. It would be nice to have them back and express their point of view as they see the collection and what elements of the collection they see working into their current wardrobe.
My takeaway is the use of fabrics and their design origins. Block print, embroidery and batik are used in a few brands we offer. However, there's been some underlying debate over the use of these fabrics because of their historical, social and political contexts. In my many years of retail, the conversation about cultural appropriation in apparel has raised issue and rightly so - some have exploited it. In this particular genre of fashion, many are sharing and celebrating their use. In our theater, we enjoy the conversation with our customers about that cultural identity through the designers eyes.
There are too many images for me to post here but I will provide this link to view the SS23 lookbook. Enjoy!

The women's stuff is great; more of the moment than the men's I'd say...

I have no problem with so-called "cultural appropriation" in fashion, with the obvious caveat that it shouldn't feel exploitative or insensitive. I thought the EG safari prints of a couple of seasons ago trod that line, because I don't see how anyone justifies a hunting safari (yeah, I know most are "wildlife viewing" now, but the history is pretty horrible).

The fezzes, ikats and islamic tile prints here are fine, same with the sarouel pants. Although, you can buy printed sarouel pants at just about any African market or online for much less money...I guess you can't call them "harem" pants, either!

I do like the styling of the Andover setups in particular. This might be the season I spring for a cagoule shirt, too, as it were...

Living in a warmer climate I'm inclined towards spring/summer collections and this is one of my favorites. I don't get the cultural appropriation vibe from the lookbook, all the models look so natural in their outfits but I'd feel self conscious coming off that way.

I'll still definitely get a couple of the more muted things, likely one of the vests (wish they didn't print Engineered Garments on the floral print) and maybe the pink overalls, but I've been called a hipster wearing the olive overalls so we'll see.

Mostly excited about the highland parka making a return. Old cruiser jacket model from ~2012ish too.

Plugging this here to keep this one alive in case we end up using both threads...

Engineered Garments Spring/Summer 2023

Not sure where to post this, so it's gonna go here... SS 23 EG is sick. Shooting some styled shots/editorial in about 30 minutes, but wanted to plug right off the bat since I know a handful of you look here first.

Some highlights: fatigues fit great this season, camp shirts are extremely lightweight and are going to be the perfect piece for all you trying to do some hot guy summer type ****, and workshirts are back in lovely pastels as to be expected.
