I know Leffot is a business, but it's very disappointing to read about your experience. Especially considering the owner is highly respected in the industry and served as inspiration to many including Skoak (IIRC).Yup, just went through the experience. I will tell you that their price is not low, it is embarrassingly low. It borders on unethically low (more on that in a minute).
They had a pair of Alden shells that I really wanted and as you know, I am close to retirement and simply have to quit buying shoes. So, I got the bright idea to trade a few pairs. I did not try to negotiate and given that no one put a gun to my head, I was fine accepting their offer with the full knowledge that it was not market (or close to it) value. No harm no foul.
Then I saw my EG's listed on their pre-owned site and what they were charging for them and was not happy. I understand all about markup, margins, and the like. But the difference between what they offered me and what they sold them for was really bad. I thought, unethical. I politely sent them an email congratulating them on taking advantage of a stooge like me and additionally, please remove me from your email list as I won't be back.
I am not a complainer (and I think you know that) but this one left me with a really bad taste in my mouth. If you decide to do it, the process itself is pretty easy. Just understand that you are going to get far less than you otherwise would. The price you pay for convenience is really really steep. I can guarantee you they made more money off my trades than they do from selling a new pair. Just didn't feel right.
I did see a listing for burgundy crup Galway for $1800+. It was initially listed as "new" on Instagram and sold the same day they listed on the website. I remember you'd listed it here for $1200, which I felt was a great price. Leffot definitely made a killing on this pair. Did you sell both shell Galways to Leffot?
