Dark oak, brown London grain, black Utah, brown country calf, brick red suede (forgot the name? Clove?), brown mink suede.
With this lineup, you likely already have full coverage across your wardrobe.

Perhaps the only gap I can think of is a pair of Dovers for your formal dinner apparel (e.g., black tie or tux). I think nightshade could potentially fill this gap.

Rosewood antique CC is very very nice - but I think your brown london and brown CC is providing huge coverage already. Rosewood does give you a little more pop in color than the browns you have, but your clove suede can serve that same purpose. Though, of course, if want that same pop for the fall and winter months, then Rosewood makes a lot of sense, as the clove suede (if unlined) would likely not pair as well with the heavier fabrics (e.g., tweeds).

I can't imagine a scenario where this would be appropriate.

Feels like it’s been a while but we finally have winter in Pittsburgh. No whining here. Just means I swap the shells and bring out the tanks. Shearling-lined Galways get the call………

Talk about a practical pair of footwear. These things are my most comfortable pair of boots, they are warm as heck, and oh by the way, they are easy on the eyes!

@flylikeneagle didn't your Rosewood pair from the Hand as well? Wild to see the difference in burnishing. Although I don't recall how long ago you got yours
Agreed. My pair is from 2021, Dennis may have changed specs. Even the Rosewood color looks different, but I suppose this could be due to lighting.

I finally had a pair of Falkirks made up and took delivery of them in December 2024. I went through The Hand (Dennis). I had to do some settling with regard to the colour as I initially wanted them in Burnt Pine and when that was off the table, as a second choice I selected Hazel, but that was later declined as that colour is also no longer offered by E.G. After much hesitation I settled for Edwardian Antique, but had in mind from the get go that I would darken them myself.

PS: In the pics below I have already darkened them significantly through the application of various shades of mid and dark brown shoe cremes. From the factory, Edward Antique is a very pale shade of brown.

An old post of mine, in which I expressed my desire to someday have a Falkirk made up in a mid brown tone: https://www.styleforum.net/threads/...d-where-to-buy.291745/page-2441#post-10383888

Oh okay, so older. I think EG just has variation over the years. I see it in different years of their DOAK most consistently

Nice looking shoes! Does anyone know what model this fancy punched wingtip loafer is? Or, which antique color? It's unfortunate that EG does not have a heritage page on thier site to show models offered over the years. Is anyone else noticing the rather thin current worldwide online inventory of EG boots and shoes?

Great looking model, a pity it's discontinued.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
