I personally like the combination of black calf Dovers with denim. DOAK Dovers pairs as well IMO, but I just prefer black shoes in general:

For me, they look too formal in the 1st and 3rd pics (especially with the mirror shine in the 3rd). They look well incorporated in the 2nd picI personally like the combination of black calf Dovers with denim. DOAK Dovers pairs as well IMO, but I just prefer black shoes in general:

Brown is just a softer color in generalI would definitely avoid the mirror shine as well, matte finish works better.
Here is Daniel Wegan in jeans and bespoke (I guess) dark brown split toes, it looks pretty good too:

I think that's completely fair. I'm at 10 months on mine and they aren't up to snuff, so will likely be 2-3 more months before received.I'm in the crowd of people affected by the unusually long wait times for custom orders. I've now been waiting 7 months for my Galways, because the first pair didn't pass quality control. It seems like it will be at least a couple more weeks before they're ready.
I'm very happy with my other EGs, but I feel like such an inconvenience warrants some form of compensation. I was planning to politely mention the long wait at delivery, and at least ask for shoe trees to be included in the price. What do you guys think?
Wow that's unfortunate! Any particular reason for the wait?I think that's completely fair. I'm at 10 months on mine and they aren't up to snuff, so will likely be 2-3 more months before received.
Welcome and yes, it's quite the rabbit holeGentlemen, I'm relatively new around here but I've been into classic style for the past 6-7 years. Until recently, I made the mistake focusing almost exclusively on my clothing to the detriment of my footwear. I've been wearing the same two pairs of Aldens and one pair of Allen Edmonds for the past 9 years, interspersed with the occasional cheap DSW / Macy's / etc. pair.
Yesterday, I received my first pair of EGs (Belgravias in nightshade) and today, I'm taking them on their maiden voyage. I've had a terrible time finding loafers that fit properly due to my high instep, so these are also my first ever loafers. Before I bought them, I compared them with a couple of other loafers and the difference in quality was tangible between the Belgravias and, i.e., Crockett & Jones Cavendish, which is a beautiful shoe in its own right. The Belgravia loafer really is on another level.
I've already ordered two other pairs of EGs - Dovers in hatch grain and Belgravias in dark oak, with a couple more on the wish list. I can tell that this is going to be a problem. When I tried them on last night, I showed my wife and asked her to call me Dorothy. I made her spit out her drink. She'd probably have choked if I'd told her what I'd spent on them.
Cheers all.

They were incorrectly welted and have to be re-welted.Wow that's unfortunate! Any particular reason for the wait?
Looks good to me.On the subject of DOAK and denim, I coincidentally happened to do this yesterday just to try it out. These Galways are on 82 so sleeker than a typical Dover. I think it worked reasonably OK but would have looked very off with a wider leg Jean or stacks.

Doak and denim works with Banbury and Newmarket, would probably also be ok with loafers. With split toe shoes it needs to be a less formal material - suede or grain - to work IMO. I also find Galways on 82 to be difficult to pair with denim, although it works in the picture above.
Anyway, I’m wearing these a lot at the moment, so you get another pic of them. View attachment 1955985
