I'm back in the office 5x a week and rarely see anyone in a tie. The most I can pull off these days is a suit over a nice polo or crewneck. What does classic menswear look like to you moving forward?

The suit, tie, and pocket square look should be left to the Pitti crowd or the next style forum meet up.

Our office pre-covid had a strong, yet unwritten rule of tie required. I always wore a sport coat with my tie because without a jacket I felt like I was back in Catholic school

Since the post-COVID casualization there's been some changes at the senior leadership level, which has led to a 'dress for your day' standard within the past year, which means 95% of people ditched the tie. I've stuck with the sport coat and tie 4-5x a week since I just wear t-shirt/flannels and jeans at home, so I appreciate the differentiator.

Maybe next year I'll ease into sport coat no tie, but definitely enjoy the look and utility of wearing a jacket every day.

Tie sans jacket is the WORST. Agreed IRT a SC's utility too. Few things I like less than cluttered trouser pockets.

I wear more neckerchiefs/cravats/neckscarves and bow ties (mainly for black tie) than necktie (even for work) but if I'm going for the neckerchief et al look it will be sans picket square

A very good fit in my eyes, but I would preferably button the middle button. I think that both options are possible and contemplated here.

as much as I don't care what other people think about my attire, I would feel like the MVP of the goofs wearing a cravat around

I work in Legal and my office is pretty dressed down. I wear a suit ,tie..4 to 5 days a week and never get anything but compliments.

Yes, unfortunately, it's an orphaned suit jacket. I wouldn't wear it with odd trousers.

Have you seen the big hardback book "The Sartorialist"? It shows plenty of photos with ideas of how to style various combinations of clothing. Also, examples of stylish men wearing double breasted jackets of various kinds with all kinds of different trousers. This includes white jeans. Some of the guys really wear surprising combinations and look great doing it. This includes db in a casual way. I highly recommend the book
