I think a look like that is fine sans tie. It's a linen blazer, so formality isn't exactly needed.

very nice fit...just needs a tie

Thanks PCK1, I didn't take any other pictures when I have worn it with a tie but I like assemble the way it is without the tie for the reason that archivaldleach stated before :) I was not going for something too formal that day.

Its a double-breasted blazer...regardless of material...it is automatically formal...and hence should be worn with a tie.

Odd jacket sans tie is a fine look. It does not cease to be so just because the jacket is blue and double breasted. It's fine if you don't care for it or would not wear it, but it is not objectively wrong.

Here's one of my all-time favourite 2-breast shots:

...because this aggressive cut suits Miles's eccentric persona so well. Not many men can wear a 2x1 without looking derpish -- and just look at all those patches and single button sleeves!


I have a grey flannel DB 2x1 from Kilgour that is one of my favourites. I had one made recently in 517 navy fresco.
