I am curious as to whether anyone sees anything special in these vintage oxfords ?

What caught my eye was the grey and brown finish and the fact the soles seem to be "handmade"

but by no means am I very knowledgable so I must inquire ..

one thing that I question that makes them look cheap to me is the edges of the leather seems raw unfinished and untanned ..

would they be worth refinishing/antiquing ?

Clean/condition/melatonin grey & brown/Lexol NF the edges(to deaden raw appearance ) /polish toes to high gloss ?

my girl got them , I do not have in hand as of yet ..

thanks for any advice and tips to get these up to par and also any crude comments regarding them ..

They look like a great pair of vintage Florsheim Imperial longwings - congratulations on your purchase.
I have a pair, too, and I like them very much. The uppers on mine are in excellent condition, but the soles are a little bit more worn than on yours.
When I got mine I left them in the sunlight to warm up a bit and then slathered on leather conditioner, let it sink in, gave them a rub with a soft cloth, and then repeated the process a couple of times. The leather looked better for it and now has a very nice shine and is soft and supple.

Enjoy your shoes!

The shoes look good to me; I especially like the antiquing and pebble grain. After they've been cleaned up a bit, I think you'll have a very nice looking pair of shoes.

Agreed that these look to be vintage made in the US Florsheim longwings.

It appears that the soles have minimal wear, and those soles may be original. I like that color and would consider those shoes to be a great find. With proper care, they will last a lifetime.

It's a derby/blucher.

Do whatever you want to do with them. These are your shoes. Btw, you cannot ruin them with your own description.

Nice find.
