Hey guys,

I’m looking to dress better here in Florida going more with a classic style. Was looking for advice on dressing well with 2 toddlers in house. And what clothing material do you wear with 2 toddlers? And typically what do you wear when at home with the kids. Obviously clothes are going get messy.

What does ‘classic’ style mean to you? Around here that might mean tailored trousers, collared dress shirts, sportcoats, etc.

with toddlers at home and Florida climate, I’d probably mostly stick with polo shirts, camp collar shirts, henleys, and machine-washable casual trousers (e.g. chinos, relaxed linen, lightweight denim).

Here's how I lean on this. Toddlers can be messy, sticky hands all the time. But I still wear what I want and dress well. If doing something potentially messy, I might take my nice shirt off and wear the undershirt below. Also, getting a little more knowledgable on laundry/stains is helpful.

Sage advice from my neighbor with 2 kids: she gets dressed for work, and then puts a bathrobe on over her nice clothing.

If you like that idea but need something more lightweight, a clear plastic raincoat could work nicely (although you may look a little psychotic).

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
