The UPS truck delivered a much awaited package to the house on Monday evening. I thought I'd share with you some pictures.

These are really awesome. They have every option that I wanted in a boot.

12" tall:

Plain cap toe:

Cream leather lined:

Built on the 55 last:

The whole boot in British Tan CXL:

Standard heel and trim:

Half Comp Lug sole with a double mid-sole (sometimes called a triple sole):

A view of the sole:

This is not the heel that I was expecting. I thought I was getting the same heel as on the MP service boots which looks like this:
0993f912-07d1-410b-8313-e65e868fddab.jpg

However, the heel that they used looks pretty robust and I'm happy with it.

These really are quite incredible:

Here is a shot of the new boot next to my semi dress boot which is also made with British Tan CXL. My SDs are about a year old.
9yGU90r.jpg

You can see that the older boot has a more reddish brown color and the new one is a lovely caramel whisky type color. The SDs have received a couple of treatments of Obenauf's over the past year and I attribute the color shift to this.

I really want to keep the color of the new boots:

I've tried them on briefly, but haven't worn them properly yet. I ordered these a in a 12C whereas all my other White's are 12D. When I lace up my SD there is less than ½" between the eyelets and I figured that I needed to go narrower. I think I did the right thing. If my initial try-on is anything to go by, these fit really well. Time will tell how long they take to break in, especially with the double mid sole.

I have a pair of black oil tan Smokejumpers and compared to them, the British Tan CXL on my SDs seems considerably thiner. Getting the these new CXL boots lined with cream leather makes them feel much more like my other Smokejumpers.

@sambam
You guys really hit it out of the park with these. They're masterpieces and I'm thrilled with them. Thanks.

That's a lovely pair of boots in an exceptionally nice tone of British Tan. It looks slightly darker than on my pair and has beautiful depth and colour variation. All the better that you have acres of it – 12" height in a size 12, that's some surface area for the leather to really show its beauty;-)

I walked around Tokyo all day about a year ago and couldn't find StumpTown. Where the heck is it hidden???? I might head to town again later this month. Keep in mind I can't speak or read Japanese. LOL
There are only 2 Stumptown stores now. Both in Tokyo. One in Ginza and one in Shibuya. They don't say stumptown just ABC mart. The one in Shibuya is about 1/8 of a mile north from the famous Shibuya crossing. Its on the second floor.

Is this a standard last? What socks are you wearing with them? Yesterday, I tried dress socks with mine and it worked out a little better but still contemplating getting rebuilt to width E. It's expensive but I feel it will be worth it if I pursue it.

Thanks, those turned out great. Glad you like them. We can't use the MP cap on a logger shaped heel. That's why you received the 430 or mini vib cap.

Thanks, that's good information to know. The heel that you guys used looks good, and it seems like it should have more grip than a Quabaug.

The "standard" last for Smokejumpers is the 4811, I had this pair built on the 55 last. As to socks, I have a good supply of Danner's own brand. Some are light padding, but most are medium. When these wear out, I'm going to order socks from Darn Tough. I've heard nothing but good things about them. I always wear over the calf socks and will get full cushion socks when I buy them.

^check out the Darn Tough Tactical line. It has extra cushion and the highest percentage of Merino wool @ 80%. They *may* be tall enough for your 12” boots. I have plenty left for 10” boots

Those are some damn beautiful boots, ThreeLions. Though, I dunno if I'd ever want them since I'd probably be obsessive about keeping that gorgeous leather color exactly like it is. Patina's great, that leather is better, imo.

Sad to know about Stumptown! I was actually in both Shibuya and Ginza earlier this year and probably walked right by both of those locations without realizing if they're both marked as ABC Mart. We also have ABC Mart here in Korea but sadly none of them carry any boots more interesting than Doc Martens, at least that I've found.

I know exactly what you mean about the leather color. I want it to stay exactly that way myself. We'll see how it goes.

Thanks Hoppy. I just took a look and they do make an OTC in the tactical line. Thanks for the tip.

Damn, I had to be right next to the Shibuya one. I must've walked right past it. I have to find a Google streetview of it.
