The UPS truck delivered a much awaited package to the house on Monday evening. I thought I'd share with you some pictures.
These are really awesome. They have every option that I wanted in a boot.
12" tall:
Plain cap toe:
Cream leather lined:
Built on the 55 last:
The whole boot in British Tan CXL:
Standard heel and trim:
Half Comp Lug sole with a double mid-sole (sometimes called a triple sole):
A view of the sole:
This is not the heel that I was expecting. I thought I was getting the same heel as on the MP service boots which looks like this:
However, the heel that they used looks pretty robust and I'm happy with it.
These really are quite incredible:
Here is a shot of the new boot next to my semi dress boot which is also made with British Tan CXL. My SDs are about a year old.
You can see that the older boot has a more reddish brown color and the new one is a lovely caramel whisky type color. The SDs have received a couple of treatments of Obenauf's over the past year and I attribute the color shift to this.
I really want to keep the color of the new boots:
I've tried them on briefly, but haven't worn them properly yet. I ordered these a in a 12C whereas all my other White's are 12D. When I lace up my SD there is less than ½" between the eyelets and I figured that I needed to go narrower. I think I did the right thing. If my initial try-on is anything to go by, these fit really well. Time will tell how long they take to break in, especially with the double mid sole.
I have a pair of black oil tan Smokejumpers and compared to them, the British Tan CXL on my SDs seems considerably thiner. Getting the these new CXL boots lined with cream leather makes them feel much more like my other Smokejumpers.

You guys really hit it out of the park with these. They're masterpieces and I'm thrilled with them. Thanks.
