Might you elaborate on these boots' specs, sambam? With the lower toe profile, they look like they might be a little sleeker and more refined than SDs, which would be nice for casual office settings. Do they have the Arch-ease system? Any construction differences from SDs?

Believe those are the Barrie lasted boots SamBam has been talking about.

For now it will be only available for our lifestyle line of boots. MP and chukka. At some point depending on availability we will offer in sd. The MP and chukka are built on the Barrie last. MP is a Whites hand sewn construction and the chukka is good year welt construction for a dressier look. The arch is not as pronounced as a 55 or 4811 last. But that's a good thing in a life style boot. I have an alden dress boot in my office built on a barrie last. You feel absolutely no arch support with it. I am using the same thickness of leather shank in the lifestyle line as we use in our work boots and sd's. The shank perfectly hugs your arch in both these boots. So the arch ease is there. Will also have MP with no toe cap available. Stay tuned for pics next week.

I'm thinking about getting a smokejumper built and I just want an opinion on how it may look on my feet. I'm debating on the sole but that's another story.

Anyway these danners I have on are lace to toe. I'm wearing Sugar Cane 1947.

Which style would look good on my feet with this denim? Lace to toe or plain toe smokejumper?

Wow that is to bad. I wear Packers most often and the waxed calf is a tough leather that I would like to try in the future! Let us know when we can order it on other boots.

thanks

I would go with a more tapered jean. :)

Yes our intro to the quote "service boot" will be the MP. Military police boot. After the footwear news platform show in Las Vegas the week of Feb 20 we should be open for orders on this model. If our lasts come in by then. Built on barrie last. 2 soles. Redone half lug (commando sole) and dainite sole. Most leathers will be available. No wb or french calf as of yet. I will keep you all informed.

First, a sincere thank you to SamBam for his open commitment to our humble forum -- you have really added the missing pieces of the puzzle for myself and many others!

Borrowed the wife's phone for two quick snaps of the latest F-R in brown dress and the Hathorn Ranch-Packer in red dog RO. Usual forgiveness for camera phone pix, please.

F-R 6" brown dress 9 hole lowered 1/4" on 700. Still breaking ^ these in, maybe it's just been a while since I had to do it to a new pair!

Hathorn Ranch-Packer 8" red dog RO on 430. Super comfy. Strong arch, slightly higher heel than F-Rs. Heavy, thick leather like on White's line, although was more supple out of the box; fast break in, maybe just because it was RO ... ?

Hoping the new White's site will list relative arch strength, heel heights and lots of pictures!

Cheers.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
