The leather seems to have gone down well, so I think it's time to get a price and estimated make-up time for Zug Snowdon Mark 1:

  • veldtschoen construction
  • zug leather
  • full bellows
  • speed hooks
  • commando sole
  • faux cap-toe
  • unlined shaft (as standard Snowdon)
  • regular eyelets
  • Galway style heel pull if possible
  • dark brown stitching*

* - trying to make sure I've covered everything!!

If I don't hear too many objections I fire off an email to C&J later!

That works for me.

Ok, I have zug in hand! It doesn't say it's Horween, but it looks exactly the same as the Horween sample I ordered from A.A.Crack.

It's called oxblood, it's medium dark brown with definite red tones, as you'd expect. I've taken a couple of shots - one inside, one outside. It's a fairly dull grey day here, so the red isn't coming through that much.

Thoughts?

Thanks, looks just like the color we got with the Galways.

Interested as well (unless maybe we get 24 and 12 of those would want to do a Zug Islay - but that's just a dream).

I am not sure if Zug Islay is a good idea. As you can see in the photos above, the leather itself is quite thick, overlapping thick leather like that would make the boot look really chunky.

Does anyone know if they do thick lace, like the one used by EG for the DOAK/walnut CC Galway? I think thick lace will also look more balanced with the heavy duty boots[/quote]

Newstart, I have sent you a PM regarding laces.

I've requested a price and timescales for the 'first' 12 pairs as described above, including the Galway style heel pull (if it's possible).

I have also asked if there is a possibility to include a spare 'heavy duty' lace with the boots. I hope that would be ok for the people who have concerns about laces.

I appreciate you coordinating all this, and also including the heavy duty lace option as well. Looking forward to getting these into production!
