Hello gents and I hope you are all well. We returned home a couple days ago and I came back with a great pair of boots and a really cool story and I wanted to share both.

To try and keep it brief, on the drive back home we stopped for a bit in the afternoon one day and found a small western/Mexican wear shop sort of by accident. We were checking out the bakery and it was right next door.

They had a selection of my favorite brand in my favorite toe style and I picked these up. Sharkskin in the color “miel.”

The owners were an absolutely wonderful married couple and we enjoyed meeting a couple of their kids as well. Great people.

We ended up staying the night because that evening they had una banda and a taco truck in the parking lot and they invited us to please come back. We asked them why the party (as in if there was a special occasion) and they answered, “Why not?!” Love it!

“The Boss” and I ate, drank, and cut the rug all night, then stumbled back to the hotel.

The next day we went to say goodbye and they comped me a hat! Every time I wear these boots and/or hat I’ll have a great memory to go along.

Thanks sir. I tried not to be too verbose and didn’t want to clutter up this thread but darn what a great experience that was completely spontaneous.

We stopped to briefly check out the bakery and then get back on the road. Ended up spending the night and left with new boots, new friends, a new hat with their business logo, and a brutal hangover!

All good, except the hangover. Sounds like some truly memorable experiences in all the right ways..

This thread popped up recommended to me, and I've spent the last half hour or so reading through. To me, all of these boots look awful (though there's clearly some amazing craftsmanship involved.) Having said that, I can see that the people posting here are passionate and well versed in the topic, so I'm going to have to concede that it's just a cultural difference/general difference of opinion. Any of these boots worn where I am (London, UK) would look pretty silly.

Please don't read my post as being negative, it's more of a musing on how the area you live in can massively change opinions on style.

Tbh I was slightly drunk when I wrote my comment. Don't mean to be negative. Some beautifully made boots here, the problem's on me for not being sure how I'd wear them.
Jeans. Any boots work with jeans.

Jeans. Can also work with chinos if they aren’t too full cut. Western boots run the gamut from some that are almost indistinguishable from chelsea boots, to the overly ornate, with hand-tooling, multi-colored shafts, so on and so forth. Definitely regional though, as some of the boots I can wear in Texas and not draw a single second look would probably seem a little out of place in Chicago or Seattle, or London lol

You are definitely an aficionado. And I had to spell check aficionado. The boot library and the boots themselves are muy bueno. Nicely done

Thank you! The books are fun if you have an interest in the history of cowboy boots or just like pics of some beautiful and unusual boots. They've just caused me to spend more money on boots.
