House is in Merida in the Yucatan.

Are you going to have hammock hooks on the walls?

Some of the best nights of sleep in my life were on a hammock hung across the foyer of a modern concrete place we rented in Merida. It had hooks and coiled up hammocks in basically every room.

I’ve contemplated replicating the setup but I don’t exactly live in a climate conducive to sleeping in a mesh Mayan hammock…

Out of curiosity what kind of climate would be favorable? I imagine you can layer or use a blanket if needed.

The climate in Merida seemed perfect for it.

I was relatively uncomfortable/sweaty my first night there in a bed, but then I realized what those coiled up things hanging in every room were.

The hammock plus a sort of afghan style blanket and a pillow was perfect. Ok if it cools off at night, but the open net hammock lets you shed humidity. Just gotta know about the “hammock angle” so you don’t sleep bent up like a banana.

Main room is a little too big.

But yes to hammocks in the bedrooms and on the terrace.

I got rid of a couple of flushmount lights in the hallway and wanted to put in a few sconces instead. What are some recommendations?

I like this from Gubi, but I don't know if it'll work for a hallway since it comes off the wall so much:

@LA Guy could you please delete the previous post. The picture links got all messed up and the time limit for editing ran out (could you please remove that limit btw), so now it's all messed up with no way to fix it. Made another identical post here below with functioning images.

A few weeks late by now, but I'm very happy with these frames I built for three photos of mine.
Ash wood with birch corner splines, finished with tinted hardwax oil and framed with acid-free passepartout and acrylic glass (will change out for non-reflective glass sometime in the future).

And since the photography thread is dead at this point, I figure I'll also mention that I've been continuing with B/W photography and really enjoying it. Slowly trying to "unlearn" what constitues a technically good picture and emphasizing other qualities in my work, to varying degrees of success.

One of my all time favorites so far:

I'm still figuring out what to do with my website and almost none of these are available on there. But if anyone is interested in any of them just use the "Unlisted Photo/Art Print"-option and I'll get in contact with you. Use SF10 for 10% discount :thumbs-up:

Most of these could also be printed way larger than A3 (11.7"x16.5"), so if anyone wants a really big print just send me a PM on here.

Edit: Oh almost forgot, I finally got accepted into the bachelors in "Interior Architecture and Furniture Design" I've applied to for three years now. Will do my best to keep y'all updated with what I'm doing there as well :slayer:

I suspect this limit exists to prevent the gutting of threads as happened when Vox deleted all of his posts when he grew disenchanted.
