where do I go to
find the real valuation
of vintage pieces?

found an el cee em;
didn't know what to offer
the antiques dealer

as we have discussed,
first dibs seems to mark up prices
for decorators

who's the designer?
what's the manufacturer?
the answers are key.

no-name danish chairs
are worth much, much less than a
wegner by johansen.

people who complain
about prices on first dibs
think all are the same.

look at new prices
and you will get some idea.
good vintage? not cheap.

I mean, it got lost in the poetry, but he definitely said LCM.

Vintage ones can go for a lot, but unless you really care about it being vintage vs a recently manufactured one, I don't think paying more than $500 a piece for a used chair makes much sense given it seems like you can frequently get new/almost new ones for a little over $600/each.

Yeah, I figured. The other problem with vintage is... what are the odds of finding a second one in the same finish and condition?

In general I'd like to have some sense of where to start negotiating if I ever come across something I like in one of these antiques stores that's packed to the gills with stuff. I don't understand how that market works.

You can search bidsquare and liveauctioneers for closing prices on similar pieces of furniture. But you have to remember to add the buyers premium to account for the cost.

******* beautifu
shelves are ******* beautiful.
i love my new shelves.

The wheel of fate turns:
A bee for a crying face,
Or sweet redemption?

All is vanity.
The bent cannot be made straight.
Good, vintage advice

This mode of address I'd best drop.
My haiku are over the top.
Though the posts seem to please,
I am not Japanese,
And seppuku is the next stop.
