Why pick on leather buttons? When not fake they're completely fine. Now... about horn toggle buttons... those are utterly prehistoric.

Thanks, but I'm not looking for feedback, as I don't care what I look like in 15 degree weather, and neither does anyone else.
The wool is thick as hell, looks fine to me, and I am going to use this outdated jacket all winter!

Presumably you'd still wear it even if you felt it didn't look fine, given your first statement?
Or maybe you do care what you look like, just a bit. You did seek out and join and men's style forum after all.

Like I said, I look generally dress great, but I don't need to be "SF compliant" when it's 15 degrees out.
There are times when it just doesn't matter.
So, I'm not going to pass up a wool coat that's 2x as dense as my current one, b/c of outdated buttons.
Sometimes, practicality trumps adhering to the magazine layouts.

Also, once a person is into this fashion game for 2 years (and 2000 posts), you develop your own sprezzatura.
Like Alan Flusser, who often dresses like ****, I have transcended the conventions and know when I can bend them.
This coat is one of those examples.

So, while I personally don't care if the buttons are SF approved, it's still an interesting poll.
And it looks like leather buttons are actually SF approved after all.

Even if the buttons were awful you can just change them...

Personally I think leather buttons can be perfectly fine, though they do convey a certain look which isn't suitable for everyone.

I see no reason this could not be simulated with CVS cloth tape by a sufficiently enterprising Aspergers-ridden llama.

The disrespect and derision shown to Reevolving in this thread saddens me.
Oh, and bump.

Tweed coats and cardigans should have leather buttons--although coffee beans will probably smell better and can be used for an emergency pick-me-up.
