Cross posted in the cordovan thread…

Newly arrived from eBay, Church’s Grafton in burgundy crup. They fit me very nicely. Better pictures to come tomorrow, I hope View attachment 2287961 View attachment 2287963
Mine had similar rolls to yours when they arrived, but some renovateur and a spoon soon sorted that out. I actually like the rolls but wanted to put my own in. The after photo is below:

Wow! They look brand new. I'll have to give that a try. I don't feel like I've quite developed a cordovan care system yet
Yeah I was really pleased and surprised with how they came out. I went a bit off piste with how I did it, but happy to share this with you in a PM if you’d like to adopt my dodgy techniques.

@Fenners81 also caved and made a deal with the Vinted user following my earlier post.

I wonder how they compare with the Pembroke's, which have quickly become my favorite in terms of comfort and style. Expecting the 10G to be slightly larger than the C&J's 10E, but the seller said they fit narrower than his C&J's in 10.5E, but smaller than his Tricker's in 10-5.

This will also be my first experience with cordovan being the main reason for taking a gamble. Unsure cordovan is for me however instead of dropping €800+ on a brand new pair this is a relatively 'cheap' way to find out. The shoes look good, bar some minor scuffs (+/- 15 wears according to selling).

Will post some more after they arrived.

Well done, I think you’ll love them. They are plenty wide, I would argue wider than 325 last but will interested to hear your take. They’re definitely an interesting introduction into shell. I would say these feel much thicker and stiffer than the C&J and AE shell I’ve had. Yours appear to be in outstanding condition - I’ll look forward to the pics.

I agree that in general a Church’s 10G fits wider than a C&J 10 E but narrower than a C&J 10.5 E. About the Trickers observation, it depends on the last; the 4444 last is a tad more generous than a Church’s G last but the other Trickers lasts are for me, a snugger fit than a Church’s G fit.

Honestly, I don't know what to expect in sizing (even though you guys seem to be consistent).

Personally:
- C&J 325, size UK10E is perfect
- Tricker's 4497 UK10-5 is roomy in the toe-box, but not necessarily very wide. Fine for a boot
- Tricker's 4444 UK9*-5, accidentally got a wrong size. Summer shoe, so thin socks and suede and fits without pressure points. UK9.5 would be better for tougher leathers/winter use
- Tricker's 2298 UK10-5 is tight in the toes, but roomy elsewhere, my least favorite out of the bunch, but after 10 or so wears conforms decently

Had a Church's 95G once, but it wasn't long enough. All in all a bit of a gamble, but I'm probably fine with a bit of extra width. If they're too large overall, I'll sell them on and probably don't loose too much. It's still an opportunity to have a closer look and learn.
