As I said, I support this policy. On the other hand I want to buy "real" cashmere (wool and so on), so to me green, recycled, regenerated one is no option.
And i understand you completely , but make no mistake while is an inferior product, if people within a budget find an recycled knit at high discount from an reliable house they should go for it. I dont want people to miss-understand me. I have an issue with those who sell this for a premium price and IMO there should be a law on this too...

(I just wore it yesterday, so it was still hanging around to let it breathe a little). 1 ply 100% cashmere Oxton Sport Shirt

I also wore my Oxton polo yesterday! Truly an exceptional piece in this day and age. I especially love the turn cuffs, and the mother of pearl buttons are like jewels. Even the armpits are hand reinforced, a feature you never see on Loro Piana nor Colombo.

Note that when WL says "1-ply", it's actually 1 strand of 2/28 threads, which most makers market as 2-ply. They are underselling themselves!

While i agree with your Oxton polo from top to bottom, on Colombo you have the armpits reinforced that you can see it if you turn the garment inside out (i will try to do a picture when i can), on brunello it can be seen on the outside, Loro Piana i cant say since they have so many different constructions on everything
WL, if they say they use 1 ply then its 1ply and if you feel it as 2 ply this is because they use a much thicker thread than the italians even if cashmere is an hollow fibre
But again very nice WL, the colour and everything..not that often i see this kind of garment from them

I also read something similar regarding 1ply / 2ply. It is quite substantial knit with just the perfect gauge count and thickness.
I fully agree that they are underselling themselves. I am their loyal customer.

What did cause those holes? Washing? Moths? Of course it makes a substantial difference, whether it could possibly be your fault, or it's due to the poor quality of the knit.

hi unlikely to be moths as I have only worn it a few times and straight away put it back in the sturdy storage box it came in , it was made in Italy but I am not sure who makes RLPL knitwear

You want me to give you an advice regarding Colombo kid cashmere? I would be an hypocrite to say dont go for it since in our books is one of the few of the Grade A+ houses left and one of my 3 italians makers that i buy from with my own money
If it fits you well, go for it
So you think it is built to last ?( I would want to get 10plus years like a Scottish made sweater ) I am sure it would be beautifully soft , which are the over two makers btw ?

of course, my first one from them is already turning 4 years, and it is an 1 ply so it was worn by me even in some summer days. From Italy i buy in general Kiton but more Cesare Attolini/Fioroni and Colombo, and WilliamL is my go to from made in Scotland

I live in the uk so they probably wouldn’t send them out to me
Of course they do it, but you can talk with them if you want to see if they have something that you like in your size Email:
[email protected]
But remember if you are in UK, probably delays for customs will accrue i think, so go for what you saw in your local shop, but i would try it to see if it fits you well since it will be your first garment from this house

What is so special about Zegna’s Oasi Cashmere other than that they are « fully traceable and sustainable » cashmere? @fabricateurialist @Johnny80

It's fully traceable cashmere and part of the company's "sheep to shop" effort, the fibers are "longer" though the length is not specified, spun by Filati Biagioli (Zegna 40%/Prada 40%/management 20%), then knitted in Biella, as far as I've heard, they are attempting to raise cashmere goats in the Oasi but this attempt isn't currently contributing to the product line

just from personal experience, Cucinelli will easily last you this long, I have sweaters that are now 10-12yrs old from them that have not pilled once, same goes for older Fedeli, haven't had their newer stuff long enough to vouch for it

(plus to be honest I have no experience with the brand so not sure how the quality / thickness of the knitting is )

Just arrived, the Cashmere Rugby (polo jumper) from Permanent Style, made by William Lokie and marketed through William Crabtree.

View attachment 1849654 View attachment 1849655

It's described as 4ply. It feels solid and consistent, not really luxurious. I like the style, with a pretty large collar. I think it's very versatile.

The item is a 38 size, an exchange for the 40 initially bought and fitting too large. It measures 51 cm pit to pit.
I purchased one of these last spring. I am very pleased with it, the collar is one of my favorite aspects.
