This weekend event caught me by surprise but I thought about it and figured it was either now or wait until the winter event since I probably won't need a new pair of boots in the summer.

For my particular feet, there is nothing better fitting than the HOK last. This is of course only for my feet, YMMV. I have the beginnings of a bunion at the ball of my foot, that fortunately with some intervention by my podiatrist, I’ve been able to arrest. So, the HOK is a dream for that portion of my foot, and I find the shape of the last desirable. The Llubi last is also great for my foot there, but to a slightly less extent.
Yes, I understand feet are unique, but still find these type of comparisons useful.
Many thanks for the feedback!

What is the HOK last?
HOK is a last from Meermin.

My suggestion is go with the Rain-D last and stay with you TLB sizing. Because of Simpson’s elongated toe box, Carmina does suggest up a half size.
As someone who has been fitted in both Carmina and TLB stores for all the lasts, the following sizes have roughly equivalent volumes: Simpson 8.5 = Rain D 8.5 = Rain 8 = TLB Alan 8E.
