Can I remove this pocket without leaving marks on the shirt?

Well, I'm going to purchase the seam ripper tonight; hopefully I won't screw up (too much). As well, I hope that the seams don't show.

Please follow-up with how things go, I am interested in how it turns out. Btw, has this shirt been laundered at all or is it brand new?

I have successfully removed pockets from over a dozen shirts at this point. I have found that an exacto knife works better than a seam ripper. The reason is that the exacto knife is sharper and requires less force to rip the thread, meaning that there is less pull on the thread, and it is the pulling on the thread that enlarges the thread holes and makes it more difficult to wash out the holes where the thread attaching the pocket was. (Of course, the exacto knife requires more care that you don't cut a hole into the shirt itself).

Also, and this is something I read on this forum that I have found works, if you use a toothbrush, hot water, and dishwashing liquid and brush the holes that are left when the pocket is removed, the holes are more likely to disappear with the next laundering.

You should have no problem with a brand new shirt, as long as you are careful not to cut a hole in the shirt, or pull so hard on the thread that you rip a hole in the shirt.
