Yeah, that's some kind of bullshit, @SpooPoker ... Her "error" is extra stuff that you don't want? An honest seller would ship what you're after. She knows she can get substantially more for it.

devil's advocate here: it might be that the 'error' is that the listing was accidentally posted prior to being accurate/complete. i presume her description copy was lifted from this:

https://snobswap.com/shop/authentic-hermes-vintage-luggage-travel-bag-suitcase-kit-1930s-10448

the price as listed is obviously nowhere close to that, and i'm not interested in explaining or excusing anything but it could have been honestly mis-listed somehow. tho it sucks to be on the wrong side of the table to be sure.

I honestly can't tell if she is just trying to protect herself through eBay because it is obviously not as described or if she realises it is worth more. From what I read she just googled for a description and copy pasted it inside and forgot to edit it.

If I really wanted it, I would reach out to her and clarify that you did not have any intention of bullying her and if she could notify you before relisting it or ask even if she is selling it locally.

Edit: someone probably informed her she dun fked up lol

Right. But I asked clearly what was different and she mentioned the body of the description - which I said was absolutely no problem and was only basing it on the pics. She confirmed she has the piece, same as the photos, but just doesnt want to sell it to me. Which is seriously ticking me off.

Update: I was feeling a little more risk-averse since I had already withdrawn most of my paypal $ to the bank at the end of the month. Told him in no uncertain terms that this is a legit BC jacket, but what is he looking for in terms of a partial refund. The jacket sold for $300 + shipping. He said $60, I countered with $30. He accepted. I hope that's the end of it.

Thanks for all your replies. If he had opened a case I surely would've fought it.

Is eBay late in charging fee from account for the month of February? Usually they charge on the last or second to last day of the month, but I don't see any deduction from last month

I usually get charged around the 15th for the previous month.

Here's another one for your block lists.

Dude opened a return claiming not as described for runs in the fabric of a Kiton tie, which were, of course clearly photographed and described in the listing.

He never did send the tie back, so the case was just closed.

Had my tax appointment last night and got a guy who was waaaaay more strict than the previous people I've used. Kinda felt like I was being audited instead of having my taxes prepped. I have to go home and basically go through my spreadsheets/paypal/ebay over the next few nights and calculate a more accurate cost of goods sold. Apparently I've been doing it wrong. Really glad I keep decently extensive records.

Is there a guide for describing tie patterns anywhere on the site (or in this thread) for the more knowledge-challenged thrifters? Found these two Brooks Brothers ties at GW the other day and really like them. Will probably keep for myself but what is this pattern called? Also, never seen this tag before on a BB tie. Thanks

@Tom Pepper I think small-to-mid scale, repeating, non-paisley patterns like that are generally called "neats" or "foulards", though I've seen "medallion" used as well.

I hate when I'm paying for a service, and the person I'm paying makes me feel like an idiot. I tend to keep my mouth shut and never feel good about the service/work once it's done.

Maybe it would be worthwhile considering cancelling the appointment and trying someone else?

Block at your own discretion. Purchased flat front Brioni pants at $35 which i accepted to get rid of them. There was nothing wrong with them beside being used.

Called ebay, had it escalated and closed in my favor.

I concur with @futuremyth re "neat print" and "medallions". I've bookmarked a few other fabric pages while searching for info on ties, not stricty about patterns, but more about fabric types. You might enjoy perusing them too. http://www.textileschool.com/ https://www.all-about-fabrics.com/whereareyou.htm http://belovedlinens.net/fabdico/textile-dictionary-g.html http://info.fabrics.net/fabric-facts/fabric-identification/

Devil's advocate, but since a tax preparer co-signs your returns, they'd want the info to be accurate. If they require proof and accuracy in what I provide them, I give it to them. After the first couple of years, my tax lady took my word for it, but the first couple times I came in with folders full.
"a more accurate cost of goods sold" should be "an accurate cost of goods sold", not an estimation.
I have a pain ********** system and it takes me a good two evenings to go thru everything and tally my numbers, but sounds like you have it covered with your own record-keeping.
It's a slog, I know!

How did you get them to do that?
