I listed this yesterday at $149.99/obo. Someone offered $75 early this morning. I’m glad I waited…

Bro, I've been away for a while. You selling sports cards now? I always thought of that as a scary market. Great sale!

We’ll see. Feedback received so far has been good. I just started listing some old cards and dabbling in the newer cards for fun.

I think it’s just like selling anything else on eBay. If you take care of your customers, they’ll treat you well. Notwithstanding the .1% douchenozzles.

A canadian buyer (I'm in Europe) just purchased one of my items and sent a message right away asking me to under-declare the value, how do you deal with these?
  • Say nothing and ship the item with the real value declaration?
  • Reply that it won't be possible and ask if they want to cancel?
  • Do as they ask and cross your fingers?
Thanks!

As a result of covid era international shipping issues (long delays, lost packages, customs issues), I fully insure all my international shipments. Ebay's shipcover insurance only covers the declared value, so if you under report the declared value then the insured value will also be under reported. Ebay's rules heavily favor the buyer, so I do not take any chances with international shipments. I also only use express or priority services.

If I were you, I would tell them that you fully insure your packages and therefore the declared value has to match.

I don't use extra insurance but that's a good pretext to decline their request, thanks!

Let them know it’s against international trade law.

I've also replied back with a lie - I've said that my labels are generated with information auto-populated from ebay and I can't change it

Also this request is much more likely from Canadians due to our ridiculous import laws (iirc, anything above $50 is taxable)

How do these people make it through the day, let alone have disposable income to buy stuff on eBay?

His first message, with my reply at the top (second picture is the screen capture I sent).

I’m trying really hard not to reply that he should consider not having kids.

Here's another good pretext...

(a)Criminal Penalties.—
(1)Failure to file; submission of false or misleading information.—
Any person who knowingly fails to file or knowingly submits false or misleading export information through the Shippers Export Declaration (SED) (or any successor document) or the Automated Export System (AES) shall be subject to a fine not to exceed $10,000 per violation or imprisonment for not more than 5 years, or both.

Another one for the block list: books_and_dvds27

Asked me if I would send to Toronto (his account is in NY or NJ, somewhere up there). He bought two cheap-as-dirt shirts, then at the last minute, added a $250 shearling vest. I sent it all to Toronto with combined shipping. Then (as my spidey sense expected), I get a note outlining some essentially trivial issues (frankly irrelevant loose threads that my tailor would have "fixed" for ten bucks). "Right now I'm looking at repair quote of $185 combined, $100 for the leather specialist and $85 for the two shirts. Or if you'd rather take the items back, I understand too, so please send me a return label with your address". A $185 refund request on a $250 purchase? Scr3w him.

I told him to discard the shirts (ten bucks each, that I would refund plus original shipping) and return only the vest, but he did not respond to half a dozen requests for the package dimensions and weight, but instead opened separate returns on all three items, two of which forced me to try and print labels (i.e. no option to simply refund without a label). I had to call eBay CS to sort that out and have them do it on my behalf. Eventually, to avoid running foul of return timelines, I printed a best-guess label through Canada Post (that required me to open an account with them, as eBay doesn't automatically provide return labels for out-of-country sales), but let him know that I would video the return (his prior feedback suggested he had sent wads of paper instead of the actual item).

Fortunately, the vest eventually returned yesterday in good order, but this is one of those people that should not be buying used items on eBay, and is a complete PITA. No more ordeals like that! Blocked!

The best part about this is that I would’ve accepted an offer at $10 less than the list price (list price was $65+ shipping). Instead, someone else paid full price yesterday.

Unlikely to buy items from the likes of this forum but
would highly recommend blocking this f#$%^&*:)

Unless you want to sell to someone who seems to relish leaving negs.
Wonder if any of his claims are legitimate.
