Briefcase/Shoulder Bags

I have recently had a bit of a fashion renaissance (entered the workforce and all that) and the bags which were perfectly acceptable in college are now...insufficient. I am looking for a briefcase with a shoulder strap (I know, then it isn't really a briefcase) but so far have been unsuccessful.

So far I have looked at:
Montblanc- A little too clean. I'm only 22 and this is a bit...dry.

Cole Haan A nice bag but not in black. Also, only having the single buckle makes the bag more likely to have a hardware break.

Salvatore Ferragamo- Nice stuff, but just not there.

Each has something I like, but I am really looking for a perfect bag. I want a top-handle, shoulder-strapped all leather bag in black. If anyone has a nice bag I would love suggestions. As I said, this is a first-time purchase, so help from more experienced individuals would be much appreciated. I'm willing to spend up to $800 on this bag. Thanks!

I would avoid that clap front, they are a miserable thing to try and open.

Depending on your price range, check out Glaser Designs on the forum. You won't ever need another bag.

After I bought my new laptop I was on the hunt for a good leather laptop bag that didn't look like a laptop bag.

Although there are bags I'd love to purchase from overseas, not very many online retailers will export to Australia, so I fell back on an old store to try, Zelows.

I measured my laptop, in its Case-Mate protective suit - black leather wrapped around a hard plastic shell - and went shopping.

I found, much to my pleasant surprise, a bag in the Sab/Sabini range. Briefcase style, shoulder straps, all metal hardware, AU$160.

The padded centre area looks a little big for my laptop, but in it's Case-Mate suit - which you don't have to take off to use the laptop - they're a perfect match.

This post may not apply to the original poster, but there may be someone local to me who's looking for this sort of bag.

Did you do a search of the archives? I think we've got about 50 briefcase/bag threads going, many of which have LOTS of pics and exhaustive lists of brands and types.

I did do a search. I was looking for something rather particular, however. I thought I might have more success asking for that, rather than browsing bags at random. But to the people who did reply, Thank you!

For $800 you might as well get a Glaser Designs bag. They have a model called the Daychest that is the size you seem to be looking for. If I ever saw you on the street, I'd tip my hat and say "what up Glaser buddy".

Hello

I am a frequent visitor to the Glaser Designs website but I cannot find the day chest. Do they offer it only in the mailed paper catalog?

Thanks
