Briefcase Appreciation thread

In my search for a shell cordovan briefcase, I came across this one, from Brooks Brothers:

I asked my SA who makes it and he had no idea. Anyone here care to venture a guess?

Both styles of boxes are used for transporting documents, but more than that, I would only be guessing? I will see if I can find out. you can just see some red boxes lurking below the table.

Thanks Simon. I have 2 red and one black of the traditional British dispatch boxes, but had not seen that type of case before.

If memory serves me ? Barrow and Hepburn were the casemakers, and Gale was the tannery back then? I received a sample cutting from Gale, of the red leather they were using then, for the Ministerial boxes, I'll see if I can locate it

I was able to get my hands on this SAB Bond attache case.... it is hand stitched black bridle leather on the exterior, and red skiver leather for the interior. Story is that it's a replica of the case James Bond used in the movie to Russia with Love. It is 4.5" deep, and has brass locks and parts....
