It's fantastic. It's a bit straight forward, but it is a wheat whiskey and not a wheated bourbon, so I think it's to be expected. I think it will rank highly among the 1-4 as one of the best offerings this series has produced.

is Four Roses Cask Strength Single Barrel at Astors for $70 worth it? Would the Single Barrel at $44 or even the Small Batch at $33 be close enough?

I mean it's expensive for bourbon, but relatively cheap compared to single malts, I just don't know if it's good value when there's so much at $25-35 that's decent. For reference, I got Bookers at $50-60 and it was worth it.

Do you know the recipe? In Michigan they are about $60 after taxes and at that price I would try every one of them. The stores that have picked their own barrels have all picked great. Four Roses picks have really satisfied me to where I am not seeking out the BTAC and Pappy releases this year. IMO, they are that good.

FWIW and other may think different, but you really can not beat Old Weller Antique for $25. Stores do their own picks as well and some are absolutely fantastic.

Thw standard Four Roses single barrel is now available at the lcbo for $45, so it's cheaper to buy here. I think I paid 55 for my store select from Binny's and it was well worth the price. I would say 70 it is at the top end of what it's worth.
