The NAS BMH is ok, not nearly as good as the previous age stated releases. Those age stated ryes are selling for an arm and a leg on the secondary market though...think 6-12 hundred.

The new distilled in Oregon stuff is terrible, based on experience and reviews....and at $90 its even worse.

That OGD Bonded is super rare!! Heard that ER10 yr Shot in the Dark was hand selected by Harlan Wheatley?? Funny he was up in my neck of the woods at a bar the other day per the bartender. Happy that same bar still serves my Tornado :)

NYI how are you so good at this? Are you constantly hunting around sketchy neighborhood liquor stores for dusties? I generally stop by liquor stores in new places I'm visiting but have never found anything worth writing home about except occasionally cask strength private barrels of stuff like FRSiB, which aren't particularly rare anyway (but are delicious!)

Honestly....yes. It's a lot of time, and the summer enables me to do it. I hit places as far away as three hours from the city, grab a buddy, get up at 6, hit the road by 630 and get to the places where I want to be by the time they open...spend the day hunting and get home late at night. This summer was fruitful, because I've been out once a week basically. Sometimes twice. Yesterday I was out all day....all I found was an older Michters 10 Bourbon...hit at least 30 stores. The more I read on teh topic, on forums and such, the more I know what to be looking for. I did get lucky with a few private barrel picks (Julios just got their WFE 13 year in) and a few other RR and OWAs were in some of the places I stopped at. Once I'm back to work, it'll most likely be closer trips once a month. I miss hanging with my kids too much during the school year to do it more often than that.

That's really impressive. I now feel a little less bad about never finding anything since I'm looking mostly in and around major cities.

Are bourbon releases turning into beer releases?

God I hope not.
