Basic birthday Old Fashioned. Trying out the Italian steakhouse at the new Forth hotel/members club on the Beltline later on.

(* I’m kind of hoping @bourbonbasted is going to join so I can hang out with the cooler younger set as a guest, despite now being an ancient 55.)

Looks tasty. One of my most revered store picks of all time was an OF single barrel pick by McScrooge's in Knoxville, TN. I rationed that one out for 3 years, and had the last pour last month.

On a more positive note, dinner last night at Bludorn, and splurged on PVW 15 (pre-dinner) and PVW 20 (post-dinner) just because. They may not have the finest selection of whiskey in town, but they have a great selection that appeals to me in particular, so that helps.

They make some really fine bourbon, and have several of their barrel picks lingering in my bar. Have never seen this one though, great find!

Almost never seen in MD and even rarer at MSRP. Not even at the NEX either, just a great local shop i love and will miss dearly in a year

So I am loving the shots in the Houston Bourbon Facebook groups of the dudes who bought every bottle of Weller Antique and Stagg they found on the shelves.

I mean yeah, this is America, but most I ever buy of anything is two, and I typically only buy one, mainly to pay it forward to the next guy who might be looking. Guess YMMV

It's so dumb - and you know these guys already own probably 50-100 bourbons. Even if you drink bourbon everyday you don't need 6-12 bottles of one bottling. Just hoarding as this point

Chasing the dopamine and misguided validation.

I'm sure you'll see many of them for sale soon for 3x msrp.

This is why I basically stopped bourbon. Sure, single malts and scotch tend to be more expensive overall, but they arent nearly as sought after.

That said I have picked up a few OF single barrels that I in no way went out of my way for, just stumbled on them as I was out.

Was in France for work last week and had some decent French single malt whiskies. At the duty free I was going to buy a bottle….. until I spotted this at MSRP

Should have bought two bottles.

Also saw some of this at the duty free at Schiphol a month back. Was tempted but then I thought, nah, that will be in stores soon. Spec's on Smith Street had a 100 deep line the day it was released in store, and everything was gone within 5 minutes lol

Now I feel awkward having 7 or 8 in the basement....

I count the ER10 as an exception to the hoarding “rules.” At MSRP it’s simply a lovely bottle and I move through them fairly quickly… but, you never know when they’ll disappear from shelves and I simply cannot go without. 🤷‍♂️

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
