What are my best options? Looking for a slim cut.

I'd be willing to use ebay.

The question really is ring fenced (Ring Jacket shout out there) by where you can buy it. Unless you're asking theoretically to discuss quality generally, I take it your question is what is the best $1,500 suit you can actually get your hands on. That depends on where you're at, as the answer would be different if you were in London v. Hong Kong v. NYC v. Naples v. Sao Paolo.

So query where you're asking from or where you can get to.

But to essentially give away my answer, I would agree with @Twotone that local MTM shops is always where I found my best value. The trouble is finding one where you're at, which is why this answer is so generic and relatively useless.

In that price range, I'd recommend G.abo Napoli, Eidos or Caruso. Not all Caruso is slim fit, especially not the stuff you'll thrift on eBay perhaps. But G.abo and Eidos both have great, slim cuts are great vale for money.

It's far below your budget of $1500. But I'm a big fan in the jcrew ludlow collection. I think the suits run about $650. The quality is top notch. The fit is slim and modern.

Don't do jcrew. Unless you get it for 200 dollars. If a suitsupply is close to you go check them out. For 1500 you can get a couple of suits.

Seems like this perennial subject never gets answered, perhaps because "best" is subjective.

If OP is looking for good value suits (high quality to price ratio) @Stilig 's suggestions are a good place to start. I would add to it Kent Wang and eHaberdasher's Benjamin line. SuitSupply also has some good options--depends on your taste with regard to styling. Even if a Jort suit from SuSu lasts several years, it may or may not be something you want to wear five years from now. Kent Wang and Benjamin suits are a lot more conservative for the money.

@Xman11815 , for ebay, there are no consistent 'deals,' really. You ought to set up a search for mens suits in your size ("42R" or whatever) and limit it to a few brands you've seen mentioned on here as being high quality. Check out the SF Suit brand rankings and plug in some of those brands: Isaia, Kiton, Brioni, Canali, etc. Get familiar with the recent tags and check back periodically to see a new listing matches your measurements.

Also, 2nd on @Seamless 's view that J. Crew isn't such a great option. The lapels are ridiculously slim and construction is only so-so, though definitely better than what you'd find in most low-end department stores (Macy's, Lord and Taylor, etc).
