That ought to have been his fate. As an immigrant to the United States, the esteem in which he is held by some used to baffle me, although I think I understand the reasons a bit better now. But he is the very definition of a traitor.
Totally agree. I can’t believe it took until the 21st Century for Americans to wake up. Good to see the “Lost Cause” historical nonsense finally getting called out.
