The BBC has currently a series “Britain’s Heritage Heroes”, featuring all kind of ancient crafts and local customs.
Episode 12 features a visit at J & FJ Baker, the last remaining UK oak bark Tannery in Colyton/Devon; specialising in shoe bottom leather and equestrian bridle leather.

Unfortunately, readers outside the UK cannot access the BBC iPlayer. Although, I believe, there are ways around by using a “Proxy-Server; but, being a technical dunce, I cannot explain how that is done.

The visit at the tannery is from about 2:30 to 10:00 minutes.
