This is a very good reason to live in Colombia
basically , countries and banks all have anti laundering legislations in place. Your MIL's account probably triggered a red flag due to the size and frequency of transactions. Some monkey on a keyboard had a look, adn escalated it. Then bank finds it materially suspicious and wants to close down your MIL's account, as they are entitiled to. TOo bad, find a new bank.
