HAHA, yes, I experienced this some 25 (actually closer to 30) years ago. Relationship is key.1. A lot of tailors don't like to use cloth brought in by clients. Some do (it's call CMT, or "cut, make, tailor") but many refuse.
2. You can do this, but it will most likely be expensive and may well take a couple of attempts to nail your fit.
