Some inconsiderate moron in my area started using a whipper-snipper at 8am on Easter Sunday.

I'm not religious, but how on earth can anyone think that it's a good idea to start using noisy machinery at 8am on any Sunday, let alone Easter Sunday?

Any decent cobblers in Melbourne? Last one i used - recommended by my shoe shop - did pretty ****** work and charged for an arm and a leg.

Evans Leather in town are the gold standard and charge accordingly. Manfred is cheaper me quicker, if getting to North Melbourne isn’t a hassle. I hear Rekaris is good too, but have never used...

I read imported goods over AUD 1000 will be taxed. Does anyone know if the $1000 threshold applies to single items or the whole invoice? So if I buy two $600 items from one store and it is shipped in one package, will I have to pay duties and taxes? Thanks for your help!

I bought a book on eBay, they are now applying tax to everything it seams. Most annoyed.

I see Rhodes and Beckett now offering a stylish selection of medical supplies. I know don't whether to give them a tip of the hat for adapting to circumstances or shake my head at this attempt at capitalising.

The $1000 limit disappeared a couple of years back and now GST (and, if applicable, import duties) are levied on goods of any value. So it doesn't matter whether you divide the things up into two shipments, or have them sent as one shipment.

Interestingly, though, the government expects overseas sellers/retailers to collect the GST as long as they are a business with an turnover over a certain amount. So most overseas businesses are supposed to configure their systems to collect GST and to remit it to the ATO. Whether they actually do that or not is another question entirely!

the fact there is a lead time of over a month says it all
