Hi guys,

I am looking to replace my current pair of optical frame. Any good recommendations for frame similar to my current one: Oakley Deringer OX5066 ? Preferably durable, rectangular, full rim (as my lenses are quite thick) and I wear glasses all day.

Appreciate if you guys can give some good suggestions.

Thanks,
John

Might be a stupid question, but I've been into Gentle Monster recently and am wondering if it were possible/how hard it'd be to get prescription lenses for any of their sunglasses frames given their colours and shapes etc

they have opticals too but I think not as interesting as the sunglasses

OK - time for new eyewear.

Thinking Buffalo Horn since I don't have time to go to Japan for bekko. Any suggestions on where to source top quality in the Bay area?
Invision Optometry at 1907 Fillmore St and For Your Eye Only Optometry on Castro St have Buffalo Horn frames by Gold & Wood, and they take insurance. SF Optics ,City Optics, and Optika in the Westfield Mall also carry Buffalo Horn frames, but they don't take insurance. The quality is top notch, but the price is over 1K a pair.

Though I don't know anything about the brand, the finishing seems to be in high quality. And this is a really nice pair of frame. I wouldn't mind having a pair of this if I can find one that fits my face.

I came across the extract below when looking up on how glasses should fit.

Is it true that "when looking at you straight on ... we should not be able to see the sides of the temples."

My glasses fit nicely but I can see the sides of the temples when looking from the front angle. But isn't that normal. In the pic below you can see the sides of the temples.

"The width of the frame should match the width of your face. This means, when looking at you straight on, the glasses should not hang off the side of your face (this would mean the frame is too wide) and we should not be able to see the sides of the temples (this would mean the frame is too narrow)."

I find with sunglasses there are multiple factors to if a pair looks good on you or not. Best thing to do is try it on in store or order from a place that accepts returns. For example, for my face shape they recommend oversized or wrap frames. Not all of them look good on my face. I even found a pair of narrow frames that looked good on me.

I don't know if Warby Parker still does it but they used to ship people multiple frames and they could try them all on at home and decide of they wanted any of them.

Anyone know of a pair of frames similar in shape to the Lesca Pica ?

I find the shape to be very intriguing but my face is definitely too wide for the Pica. If I could find something with the same shape but wider, it would be fantastic. Thanks!!

BTW, these would be used as every day glasses, not sunglasses.

Hi hobojones,

For full disclosure I work with Motion Global (which is the parent company behind SmartbuyGlasses.com), but I happened to find this conversation and would like to weigh in since I think the answer is relevant.

Bob Sdrunk is always a solid choice and the Model "Homer 03" is pretty similar to the Lesca Pica one. This season it’s on trend and is also really versatile when it comes to styling your wardrobe. Not to mention that the brand itself is known for being "high quality eyewear that enhance the identity of the person who wears the eyeglasses". Trust me on this one; not only is it part of my job to up on all the latest eyewear styles, but I’m also a bit of a personal fashion addict. I stay up to date!

I hope this was helpful!
