What do you think about wearing Randolph Engineering/AO Pilots as RX-glasses? I already wear them as a pair of sunglasses but I don't know if its foolish to use as eyeglasses. I was interested in the Oliver Peoples Soloist wire frames until I saw the pricetag and was considered others that in the same-ish area.

can anyone recommend some frames that come in size 55 or 56? i have a huge dome and a fairly wide nose - all i've come across online is a couple of dita frames and one model of ysl's. problem is i'd have to order them online and glasses are something you obviously should try on first. guess i might have to just get raybans and put prescription lenses in them. i potentially (i think) could get away with a 54 if it fit on the nose.

Thanks for your input! I will be heading back to my optometrist this weekend. I had the right idea before.
It is funny because the associates working there kept recommending me wide and rectangular shaped glasses and I was a bit put off by it, 1) Because I already own two similar pairs from years ago that still assist in my vision and 2) I wanted to try something new
The younger associates kind of had an idea but the older one kept pushing for wide rectangular frames with zero depth.
What do you think of clear frames for my face and complexion?

I tried a pair on and liked the fit and shape. FWIW I only wear glasses as needed though it may compliment me more now that I know what to exactly look for. Just got to be weary in choosing too much depth and curve shaped frames or I might end up looking like a hipster.

These frames are pretty amazing. Is any one able to identify them? Closest I could find is the Oliver People's Albert J, and they pale in comparison. The temples in the OPs are especially off.

Any suggestions for shops in Philly? I've been to Modern Eye, but they seem very expensive.

Modern Eye does have a great selection. I found that some of their frames are a pricey $200 and then some are an explicable double that. Very nice people though and extremely helpful.

I haven't been there myself and cannot comment on the pricing, but I've heard that The Eyeglass Works in Manayunk has a good selection.

I ordered a pair of Anglo American 406s in Japanese Havana with glass lenses from Eyeglasses.com the other day. I have been wearing the Classic Specs Beaumont model, which is a very similar P3 frame, for a while now so I know I like the style. I'm excited to try real glass lenses instead of cheap plastic ones.

Do you know of brands suitable for wide and high noses? Besides all the glasses I have discounted on sight I have tried on hundreds of frames. Almost all have a too narrow bridge. I'd prefer a full frame as to use glass instead of pc or any kind of plastic.

I would suggest a metal frame. A frame with pad arms will greatly increase the comfort level of any frame. Generally the larger the bridge the larger the eysize so I hope you have a large head too. If you don't, not to worry, you should still be able to find a frame with pad arms and a relatively wide bridge. Most bridges are 18-20 or so but I'm sure you could find some in a 22. Not common, but not impossible.

As well, look for a frame with a high top brow bar with the bridge that is at the very top of the lens shape. It would sit much better and look much better on you.
