I can't speak for the Arrow double sole mocs, but I have the Quoddy double sole ring mocs and stylish looking though they are (IMHO), they are in no way comfortable for long city walks. This can be mitigated somewhat if you wear fairly thick/cushy socks, but w/o socks, the leather soles don't provide much cushion. Crepe soles are another story comfort wise, but for me the double leather soles look much better.

^^Thanks, Bob. That's what I suspected, unfortunately. I agree that the double soles look better than the crepe ones. They'd probably make killer driving shoes, though. Too bad I don't have a car.

Any interested in a once-worn pair of their two eye mocc toe shoes with double soles? They look exactly like in the photos a few pages back. I got a pair in size 9D but they don't fit well. I wore them out in my back porch before making sure they fit me and now can't return them. My price would be $110 shipped.

You can certainly wear these outside -- the soles seem to be hard wearing. They will last for quite a while fore they'd need a resoling. Wearing them on wet roads would accelerate the wear but even then these will last a long time. Socks are a must if you are wearing them outside though, as Bob says there is not much cushioning. However, the insole will conform to your feet after a few wears and it should be very comfortable.

Yes, I find they are true to size.

Also, for anyone curious about the double leather soles. I have the ring boot with the double leather sole. I applied Sno-Seal on them and have since worn them lots in the city and on trail hikes over the past year and a bit. The sole has held up very well. Just yesterday I cleaned the bottoms to re-apply Sno-Seal and noticed, considering I have walked through all types of terrain and weather in these, there are only light scuffs where my heels hit. Sno-Seal works great on these in keeping moisture out, though they can be a slippery on certain surfaces on wet days.

Why is this brand considerably cheaper (>$100 cheaper) than the competitors' moccasins of comparable style?

I think there's just 1 guy behind Arrow, so he doesn't have particularly high expenses. I placed a "special order" and he only charged me $10 bucks more than the the advertised price. I know he sells to Japan quite a bit, so in theory he should realize that the shoes he has been making for x years are now kewl. Dunno, maybe he's just a honest guy that doesn't wanna go from $140 to $240 for no specific reason (beside popularity) like Quoddy.

BTW, nice new Arrow x Nepenthes. I have the brown ones with the double leather sole and they are great.
