I have problems with Paypal. I have to show proof of delivery in seven days after payment. If I do not they block payment. I cannot deliver shoes made to order in 7 days.

I had a trip planned to Naples and only a week before arriving I found out about Antonio here. So I shot him an email to see if it was possible to have test shoes made by then. I had honestly expected a simple "Nope, not enough time" which would have been reasonable given the last minute request.

Instead, within that week he's been able to make two pairs of test shoes. One being half a size smaller than the other because he was unsure of the measurements I sent in. And of all things, he was incredibly apologetic for not being able to wax the shoes as he was rushing to get them done!

These are my first pair of bespoke shoes and I was a little nervous about the entire thing, about choosing Antonio, about my self-measurements etc. (He picked up that hesitation in our emails and hence had the two different test pairs)

Turns out my measurements weren't that bad and the initial pair of test shoes fit great, though it was nice to be able to try the two different sizes. Slight tightening the top line to get a better fit around the ankle. He also re measured my feet and took additional measurements in case I decided to order a boot in the future.

Here we also discussed the design and colour I wanted - classic shape, oxford, semi brogue, deep brown. It also helped that Antonio had brought some awesome shoes to show me and other shoes he was working on (some of which have been posted on this thread)

I had planned to take the train from Napoli out to Airola, about 50km away from Naples, where Antonio's based, but Antonio was going to be in Napoli that day so we met at my hotel instead.

I have to say Antonio is an all round nice guy who goes to rather great lengths for his customers (and he also speaks pretty good english). He responds promptly to emails which was a big help especially with my last minute request.

Looking forward to seeing how my shoes turn out!

(Also, not sure how it is with other bespoke makers, but Antonio's test shoes are for the customer to keep)

Antonio, are you open to invoicing the customer right before shipping. That's one of the awesome things that Vass does.

I feel that the payment will be self solving over time when some of the payment processors like Square and Venmo start to operate internationally.

I feel that the payment will be self solving over time when some of the payment processors like Square and Venmo start to operate internationally.

The problem with many payment providers is that they require proof of sending/receiving within a certain number of days. When you sell that's impossible to deliver and then they cancel payment. I;ve had the same issues when I sold custom bedding online.
